Copyright & Takedown

What DistillCast does with podcast audio
A user adds a public podcast or YouTube feed to their own account. For new episodes we fetch the audio, transcribe it, write a summary, and generate a new spoken rendition of that summary. The result is delivered privately to the account that requested it.
Two things follow, and they matter for a copyright assessment: we do not host or redistribute your source audio, and nothing is public — each digest is reachable only by the single account that created it, through a private unguessable feed URL. There is no public library, no browsing of other users' digests, and no sharing surface.
If you'd rather we didn't
If you own a podcast and don't want DistillCast generating summaries of it, tell us and we'll block it — for every account, not just the one that reported it. You don't need to file a formal notice or involve a lawyer to get that outcome. Email the address below with the show name and feed URL.
Designated agent
Copyright notices should go to our designated agent:
Filing a notice
To be actionable, a notice should include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed.
- Identification of the material at issue, with enough detail for us to find it — the show name and feed URL is usually enough.
- Your contact details: address, telephone number, email.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and — under penalty of perjury — that you're authorised to act for the owner.
We act on valid notices promptly: the material comes down and the source is blocked from further processing.
Counter-notice
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address, including your signature, identification of the removed material and where it was, your contact details, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court. We'll forward it to the original complainant, and may restore the material after the statutory waiting period unless they file suit.
Repeat infringers
We terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly add material they have no right to process.
