Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Your email address — it's how you sign in and how digests reach you.
• The sources you add — the podcast and YouTube feeds on your account.
• What we generate for you — transcripts, written summaries and the spoken audio digests made from them.
• Listening and delivery signals — whether a digest was downloaded from your private feed, so we can tell you what you actually listened to and know the service is working.
• Product usage — pages visited and actions taken, to understand where the product is confusing.
• Billing details — plan, status and renewal date. We never see or store your card number; that goes directly to Stripe.

We don't buy personal data about you, and we don't sell yours.

Why we collect it

To run the service you asked for: fetch your episodes, make your digests, deliver them, bill you correctly, warn you before money moves, and fix things that break. Product usage tells us which parts of the product don't work; it isn't used to profile you or target ads at you.

How long we keep it

Your library stays available for as long as your account is open — there's no automatic expiry, because a digest you made a year ago is still yours. When you close your account we remove your digests, transcripts, summaries and generated audio. Records we have to keep for accounting and tax reasons (what was charged, and when) are retained as long as the law requires.

Your rights

• Export — you can download everything we've made for you, any time, from your account. No need to ask.
• Deletion — email support@distillcast.com and we'll close your account and delete your data. This is handled by a person, not a button, so allow a few days.
• Correction and access — ask us at the same address.
• Email preferences — every non-essential email has a one-click unsubscribe. Messages about money — receipts, charge warnings, renewal notices — are sent regardless, because you need them and an opt-out shouldn't hide a charge from you.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your data. Ask and we'll honour them.

Cookies

We use a cookie to keep you signed in, and analytics cookies to understand product usage. We don't run advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers on the product.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit, sign-in is passwordless so there's no password of yours to leak, and your digest feed is reachable only through a private, unguessable URL. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we'll tell you.
